Dear FuzziBunz® Friends:
Many of you know me as the Mother of the Modern Cloth Diaper. I invented FuzziBunz® in 1999 after my son, Eden, was born with severe eczema.
Fast forward seven years. Eden is a thriving young boy with no skin issues; however, over the years I had noticed that Eden displayed some behavioral concerns and learned that he found socializing with others hard to do. Eye contact was difficult and speech issues were a constant struggle, something I thought he would out-grow.
My concerns mounted and so I took Eden to the doctor. That's when I got the numbing news: Eden was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism. At first my heart sank. Autism was the only word I heard. My Eden was one in 110 children who would have to cope with autism for the rest of his life. I was devastated.
My devastation quickly turned to optimism. With the support of organizations like Autism Speaks—and my family and community—I learned that there were many techniques and treatments to help Eden cope and thrive. It has been some journey—that's for sure—but one I wouldn't trade for the world!
I recognize that I am fortunate that FuzziBunz® has afforded me the opportunities to treat and help Eden, but I know not all families are in this position. That's why, in Eden's honor, FuzziBunz® will donate $1 for every "Light It Up Blue" diaper we sell to Autism Speaks, a national advocacy organization dedicated to funding autism-related research and helping families impacted by autism. (Note Light It Up Blue was once known as Blue Sky). The diapers are the same price as the all the other FuzziBunz® cloth diapers—so I hope you'll simply add the Light It Up Blue diaper to your stash and know that, by doing so, you're helping families like mine cope with autism and that you're contributing to our nation's plight to find a cure.
Many of you already know that I founded FuzziBunz® because of Eden. His constant diaper rash wouldn't go away and his doctor told me I had to use cloth diapers only—no more chemical-ridden disposables. At the time there weren't any modern cloth diapering options, so I had to invent one. I credit my special little boy, Eden, with the invention of FuzziBunz®, and now as the inspiration of FuzziBunz's® public support for autism-related organizations. Thank you to Eden and to my entire support system, which includes family, friends, advocacy organizations and now you, our loyal FuzziBunz® fans!
Sincerely,
Tereson Dupuy |
